Informed Consent Agreement

Please read this consent agreement carefully before you decide to participate in the study.

Purpose of the research study: The purpose of the study is to see how people feel about a variety of tasks and what their preferences are.

What you will do in the study: You will be asked to do one or more of the following: think about various topics while alone or in a room, work on problem solving or perceptual tasks, answer a series of questions about your thoughts and feelings. You might also be asked to share an image of your living space (with no people or identifying details present) with the researchers. You may also be asked to consume a drink or food that contains these ingredients: None


If you have any dietary restrictions or an allergy to any of these ingredients, do not consume the food or drink.

Time required: The study will require about 30 minutes of your time.

Risks: There are no anticipated risks in this study.

Benefits: There are no direct benefits to you for participating in this research study.

Confidentiality: The information, including any images, that you share in the study will be handled confidentially. Your information will be assigned a code number. The list connecting your name to this code will be kept in a locked file. When the study is completed and the data have been analyzed, this list will be destroyed.

Voluntary participation: Your participation in the study is completely voluntary.

Right to withdraw from the study: You have the right to withdraw from the study at any time without penalty.

How to withdraw from the study: If you want to withdraw from the study, simply tell the researcher you would like to leave. There is no penalty for withdrawing. You will still receive full credit or pay for the study.

Payment: You will receive one of the following for completing today’s session: 0.5 class participation credits. Note: experimental credit for the Department of Psychology Participant Pool is only available during the Fall or Spring semester when you are enrolled in a participating psychology class.
